Carlo Fishing Charters

We run charters of 4, 7 or 10 days for groups upto 12 guests. We have three deckhands/fishing guides whom are all keen fisherman and help guide guests to the better fishing spots. Unlike other charter boats, we don’t just fish of the main vessel. The Carlo has 5 Aussie Whaler dorries, which caters for 3 guests per dory. This allows for the guest to get in closer to reefs or up estuary’s to target Barramundi or Reef fish.

All meals are well catered for, with 3 meals per day, plus snacks. Baked dinners, seafood (fish, crabs, oysters) steaks on the BBQ and pasta are some of the options.

Groote Eylandt

The Carlo fishes Groote Eylandt and Blue Mud Bay from April to June for the run-off. Barra!

We target Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon ect. in the estuaries in Blue Mud Bay (Arnhem Land). Sailfish, Marlin, Red Jew, Red Emperor, Mangrove Jack, Coral Trout, Cobia, Queenfish, Tricky Snapper and many more are targeted in the waters surrounding Groote Eylandt. Upto 50 different species can be caught.

All legal sized fish that are caught can be brought back to the main vessel to be filleted, packed then frozen. Each guest can take home 10kg of fillets each. Any extra fish catch is given to the aged Aboriginal community or the Anindilawaka Land Council to be distributed. We do also encourage catch and release.

How to get there

From Cairns or Darwin, you can fly Vincent Aviation or Air North directly to Groote Eylandt. No alcohol can be transported to the Island.

Great Barrier Reef

The Carlo fishes the middle and northern areas of the swain reefs from July to November.

We target all reef fish and pelagic’s in and surrounding the reefs as per government bag limits. Coral Trout, Sweet Lip, Red Emperor, Red Jew, Spanish Mackeral, Yellow-fin Tuna and many more are targeted.
